First Ave Rocks can help your Scouts have a blast. Whether you are looking for a fun meeting idea or would like to complete your Climbing Merit Badge, our facility and staff can provide your troop one of the most exciting climbing experiences around.
Climb On Safely for Leaders of Boy Scouts
40 minute program conducted at First Avenue Rocks - Program is designed to help adult leaders organize a climbing and rappelling program for their unit. - $25 fee for program.
Introduction to Rock Climbing
- 2 hour program for members of Boy and Girl Scout Programs
- 5 scout minimum (10 scout max)
- Includes:
- 1 hr of direct instruction, and 1 hour of climbing and facilitation
- scouts will learn climbing commands, safety rules, top rope climbing and bouldering in a fun and safe environment
- 3 hours
- $30 per participant
Merit Badge Program
- Cost: $60 per scout; 4 scout minimum
- Includes:
- Our 6 hour course is completed in 3 sessions.
- Certified Merit Badge Counselors on staff who teach the course and will sign off on the merit badge card.
- Will allow scouts to safely learn all the essential elements of climbing as described in the B.S.A. Handbook
- All necessary equipment
Lock-in Program/Overnight
- Cost: $28 per scout; 20 scout minimum
- Includes:
- 4.5 hrs climbing program
- participants will learn climbing commands, safety rules, top rope climbing, bouldering, and rappelling
- Supply your own belayers and chaperones
- Available on Saturday evenings only
Belay Certification Class for Scout Leaders
- Includes:
- 2 hour program (one visit)
- belay technique, knot tying, top roping, safety rules and verbal commands
- class will prepare you to belay for your troop for the Lock-in and Intro to Rock Climbing program
- $35 per leader
Certification class required prior to Intro Rock Climbing , and Lock in/Overnight Programs
