Kids Belay guidelines

In order to create a safe and fun environment while climbing at First Avenue Rocks, our young guests (12 and under) and parents are asked to adhere to a few guidelines. 

  • must be under adult supervision at all times.
  • Only staff or Certified Belayers may handle ropes in climbing area.
  • Bouldering limited to Boulder One in climbing area.  Children and groups are not allowed on Boulders Two or Three for safety reasons.  If you would like this option see our Programs on our website for more information.
  • Children may not boulder above red line on Boulder One without staff or Certified Belayer spot. 
  • Children may not enter weight training area.
  • No bouldering on top rope wall.
  • The ONLY footwear allowed are fully closed,sneakers.. Sorry, sandals, flip-flops, water shoes, open footwear, clogs, or hard soled shoes are not permitted. Rental shoes available at extra cost.
  • No swinging or pulling on ropes.
  • For some reason 10” foam padding evokes an innate response to wrestle or do gymnastics, but for safety we ask our guests to refrain from these acts while on your visit.
  • No food or drink on pads.
  • Our space is enjoyed by both serious athletes and adventure seekers alike.  We ask our visitors to limit the noise level by not yelling or screaming to make sure our environment accommodates everyone.
  • No running or horseplay.
