First Ave Rocks Hosts ABS Local Comp, Nov 12th

First Avenue Rocks hosts ABS 13 this Saturday. The gym will be closed for climbing starting Wednesday, November 9 through Saturday Nov 12th.

First Ave Will be open after the comp (around 3pm). Day passes will be just 5$ for the remainder of the evening.

It rained. The dynos were sent. It rained. Daniel Woods wowed us with his slide show. It rained. The bands played. It rained The kegs were floated. It rained. Willcutt raised 130$ for re-bolting by cutting his hair. It rained. We danced till 2 in the morning. It rained.

Needless to say we did NOT climb. So…

This weekend Saturday, March 12th HP Rocks gets down to business.

Savage Films Releases New Short

Last September Savage Climbing released Swanky Swizzy, a 16 minute short about Alex Savage and Les Warnock crushing in Ticino, Switzerland. Swanky Swizzy quickly became a hit, voted 8th best climbing video of 2010 on VideoClimb.com as well as the 7th ‘most liked’ bouldering video on Vimeo (out of 5,000+ videos).

In December Savage Films released a new video, Orange Crush. This time Alex, Les & company get down to business in Rocklands, South Africa, bustin’ out 22 world class boulder problems from 6B to 8B. No interviews, no beta, no spray, just climbing in one of the greatest bouldering areas in the world!

What: Our summer tournament series with three events. Climb in any one comp or compete in all three. Mens & women’s categories Beginner through Open. Kids categories too!

Where: First Avenue Rocks.

When:
July 10th at 7PM
July 31st at 7PM
August 21st at 10AM
Registration starts 1 hour prior to each comp.

Why: Get in on CASH and sick prizes from Five Ten, Asana, SoIll, Metolius, Voodoo, and many more.

How much: $20 or $45 for the series pass. Spectators are free.

Climbing Camps Start June 14th!

First Avenue Rocks summer camps are two hours long and run Monday through Friday every other week. Climbing camps will familiarize kids with the tenants of rock climbing including technique, body movement, equipment use & care, termonology, and goal setting. We cap our classes at ten climbers in order to better focus on the kids as individuals. Even if your child has never climbed before we can have them climbing in minutes and teach them skills that they can use in all aspects of life.
